Business and media environments share many similarities with theatrical productions. Every performance counts and is critical to success or failure. As on stage, success during presentations, speeches and other business appearences is dependant upon delivering a convincing performance to the audience.

The best concept or most brilliant idea will turn from a diamond to a lump of coal if our words are not well received. The labor of weeks is for naught if the audience does not listen, even though we speak clearly. Consequently, he who is heard shall rise above his competition.

Our greatest adversaries are the fear of failure and stage fright. They rob us of our enthusiasm and make us hide behind our words, forcing us to seem distant and arrogant or – worse still – bore the listener with monotony.

In fact: at that moment when the body language of the speaker and factual content of the speech no longer harmonize, the listener is distracted. Should the listener pay more attention to the speaker or the speech?
